Abstract

Feedback is a crucial element of the scaffolding process for learning. Feedback offers valuable insights into learners' progress in attaining learning objectives and enhancing their selfregulatory abilities. Feedback assumes heightened importance in online courses due to the geographical and physical separation between instructors and students. Feedback in this situation enables the teacher to tailor learning material based on the specific requirements of the pupils. Providing feedback may be a difficult undertaking for educators, particularly when dealing with large groups of students. Consequently, many automated feedback methods have been suggested to alleviate the instructor's labor. Despite the increasing research focus on these systems, there is a lack of comprehensive studies that analyze the progress made so far, as documented in the literature.
